Cross St Studios is an artist-run space, organized by young artists. It acts as a hub for networking as to nurture an emerging artist community. Cross St Studios will function as a platform for encouraging professional practices. It is an incubator for ideas that can be easily generated, executed and exhibited. Our emphasis is on creating the freedom to experiment with unconventional ideas and presenting them to a public audience.
Situated behind Karangahape Road, in the old Barker & Pollick Building with a distinctive over-bridge, the space includes a public gallery/performance space, ten individual studios, and a large workshop.
The gallery spaces are available for use by members of the public, be it an art show, musical performance, film screening, lecture or discussion, or workshop. If you are interested, email any a proposal or query to us at cross.collective@gmail.com.
A plan of the gallery is available here

Cross Street Artists' Collective

During the winter of 2006, the Cross Street Artist's Collective took on the lease for the upstairs tenancy at 27 Cross Street. Formerly a martial arts space, we undertook the construction of ten individual studios for ourselves, and a gallery and workshop for the wider community. Each member of the collective have differing interests, from art to music to architecture to fashion to crafts to machines.
